A possible medical emergency turned deadly on a Maryland roadway.
Tesfaye Fugago Liranso, 67, of Gaithersburg, died on Saturday, Aug. 8, more than two weeks after he was struck by an SUV on West Deer Park Road, Montgomery County Police announced on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The crash happened at approximately 2:34 p.m. on Friday, July 24, near Hermosa Place in Gaithersburg.
City police officers responding to the scene found Liranso suffering from life-threatening injuries.
He was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, where he remained until his death.

John Aaron Gass, 35, of Hyattsville, pleaded guilty on Monday, Aug. 10, in Washington, DC, to coercion and enticement of a minor stemming from the sexual abuse of a 16-year-old student, US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced.
Gass was a history teacher at District of Columbia International School, a charter school in Northwest DC, until November 2025, according to court papers.
