A 22-year-old Rockland County man was intoxicated when his speeding sports car slammed into a tractor-trailer in a horrific overnight crash on Route 17 in Paramus over the weekend, authorities said.
Davil LaFontant, of Nanuet, was charged with aggravated assault, assault by auto, and drug possession in the crash, which injured him and a 20-year-old female passenger, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Wednesday, April 21.

Long Island Man Tased After Threatening Officers With Knife, Police Say
A Long Island man was arrested with the help of a taser after he threatened to harm police officers who responded to a call for an intoxicated man who needed medical attention.
Michael Battah, 69, of Wantagh, was arrested around 4:10 p.m., Thursday, March 25, after he threatened officers with a knife, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, officers responded to a residence on Scott Road for reports of an intoxicated male in need of medical assistance.

Man Busted For DWI With Infant In Car Following Crash In Area, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was busted for an alleged DWI with an infant in the car following a single-vehicle crash.
Osgual Omar Romero-Godoy, age 20, of Stormville, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 7, by Yorktown Police following a single-vehicle on Curry Street in Yorktown, the department said.
According to police, officers responded to the crash and found Romero-Godoy who said there was a 1-year-old child in the backseat of the vehicle.
Officers found the infant in the backseat, not in a car seat, but in a seatbelt with a cut in the area of his mouth, police said.

Police: DWI Morris County Man, 54, Slams Into Utility Pole
A Morris County man was drunk when he slammed his car into a utility pole earlier this week, authorities said.
M. Renauer, 54, was driving on West Main Street in Rockaway when he crashed into a pole Thursday, borough police said.
During police questioning, Renauer, of Rockaway, showed clear signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest, police said.
Renauer was being processed when officers found that he had sustained injuries in the crash. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Intoxicated Long Island Man Drives Vehicle Into Canal, Police Say
A Long Island man was arrested he allegedly drove his vehicle into a canal while intoxicated.
Exel Argueta, 22, of Lindenhurst, was arrested around 10:40 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Copiague, said the Suffolk County Police.
According to police, officers responded to West Riviera Drive near the intersection of East Hampton Road after a 911 report of a vehicle in the canal.
When officers arrived, they found Argueta had exited the vehicle and was back on land.
