The Northeast has some of the most fun states in the country, but several others landed near the bottom of a new ranking.
WalletHub released its 2026 list of the Most Fun States in America on Tuesday, Aug. 18. A Queens man has been arrested more than a year after nearly half a million dollars in checks mailed by a Long Island company were intercepted, police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Raymond Nagaloo, 31, of Queens, was arrested following an investigation by the department's Electronics Squad/Fraud & Forgery Section, Nassau County Police said.
The investigation began after a Woodbury company mailed two checks totaling more than $495,000 that were intercepted by an unknown person on Monday, June 23, 2025, according to detectives.

Two gas station employees were arrested after allegedly selling alcohol to underage police agents during a series of inspections on Long Island, authorities announced on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Neval Efecik, 52, of East Patchogue, and Shannon Schnoll, 50, of Medford, were arrested during State Liquor Authority inspections in East Moriches, according to Suffolk County Police.

Six people were arrested, 22 vehicles were impounded, and about 100 summons issued following a rowdy street takeover on Long Island on Tuesday night, Aug. 18, police said.
Cops spotted about 150 cars at a “disorderly” meetup near Mitchel Field in Uniondale around 10 p.m., the Nassau County Police Department said.
The initial officers called for backup, resulting in law enforcement swarming the scene and conducting dozens of traffic stops, according to police. While many of the stops ended with cars being impounded and summons being handed out, two led to felony charges, authorities said.
