A 20-year-old man died after gunfire erupted during a police chase following a burglary investigation, Pennsylvania State Police said Monday, Sept. 8.
Scranton Police were investigating a burglary on Sunday, Sept. 7, in which Christian Santiago was suspected of stealing a .30-06 rifle from a relative’s home, troopers said.
After Santiago sent a family member a photo of the rifle and ammunition, the family member voluntarily went to police and obtained an involuntary mental health commitment warrant, according to state police.

A 53-year-old former Toms River resident was indicted on charges he forced non-consensual sexual contact upon employees he supervised and colleagues, authorities announced Thursday, Sept. 3.
Robert Sinnott, was previously the fire chief of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company in Toms River and retired Island Heights police officer, Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said. He was previously charged with criminal sexual contact and official misconduct, Davenport said.

An urgent search for an 81-year-old woman who vanished after leaving for a walk in Virginia has stretched into its fourth day.
Carolyn Taylor was last seen at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, in the 18000 block of Foundry Road in Purcellville, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
Taylor left for a walk and never returned, authorities said.
